Kindergarten World Children’s Book Week

Every year, the second week of November is celebrated as “World Children’s Book Week”.  Our kindergarten classes celebrate this week with various activities. Students examined their class libraries, and learned the features of the books. They brought their favourite books to school and introduced them to their friends, and told each other what the books are about. The students wrote and illustrated their own stories and then put them together to make class books.

The kindergarten Winter Preparation- Making Pickles

Our kindergarten classes learned how to make pickles in preparation for the winter season, and made pickles in the classrooms. The students talked about making pickles, how long it would take and how they would be made.  They got to know each other ingredients that would be used to make pickles. All the ingredients were placed one at a time, into the jar, and then the jars were tightly closed so that no air could get in.  Our students are waiting with excitement and wonder to see how many days they will have to wait for our pickles to be ready in the classroom science corner.

Kindergarten English Split Lesson

Kindergarten students had a lot of fun completing a “Monster Puzzle” of body parts while playing with their friends. Students had a chance to review and reinforce the new vocabulary.

We are Learning About Our Neighborhood with Cubetto

In the kindergarten, one of the lessons we did this month was to program the cute robot Cubetto to show us around Selim’s neighborhood, continuing on from a storybook we read.  According to the codes we made, we toured Selim’s neighborhood butcher, green grocer, pharmacy, market, flower shop, library and bakery.
