After reading “Octopus’s Garden” by Ringo Starr, 2nd grade students created their own recycled classroom aquariums in Language Arts lessons. Each student chose their own cutout of an aquatic life form and colored it with the color of their choice. Students were also given recycled scrap paper to color and then crumble to form the rocks of the aquarium. Once all the pieces of the aquarium were assembled, students displayed their aquariums in their classrooms.
