We have been participating in the “Eco School” Project since October and we have now had our first presentations and chose classroom representatives. Then we learned the meaning of garbage and waste and the differences between the two.  We learned the concept of recycling and what we can do to have a cleaner world.  We also learned about electricity conservation: deciding on the slogan “Use as much as you need”, discussing about our energy needs, coloring pictures of light switches and faucets to understand their importance, and generally becoming more aware of our environment.  To more fully understand how we should protect our environment and respect nature more, we acted out the story “The Trash Witch”.  We also made recycling boxes for our classrooms.  On “Toy-Free” day, we made our own toys from items from these boxes.  We were excited to watch the puppet show called “You Cannot Cut Any Trees” and we read the book “Atatürk’s Love of Trees”.  Finally, this week, we found pictures in old newspapers and magazines and made collaged signs.
