In the kindergarten, we began working on symmetry. First, we watched a presentation about symmetry in nature, animals, architectural shapes, letters and numbers, items that we use, games, and body parts. We made symmetrical pictures on tongue depressors. We painted strings, put them in the middle of folded paper, and excitedly watched the symmetrical shapes form as we pulled the string out. We completed portraits made of photos of half of our faces. We showed our friends pictures of symmetrical things in our homes. We will continue learning about symmetry in April when we do our Spring and Ladybug units.
