During the week of December 12-16, 4th Graders created “Kandinsky Trees” in their Art Lessons.  Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian artist who painted one of the first purely abstract works of art.  Using Kandinsky’s painting, Squares with Concentric Circles (1913) as inspiration, students created their own colorful trees.  This activity concluded our study of color theory, and incorporated the students’ understanding of primary, secondary, warm, cool, and complementary colors.
