Our 4th grade English Drama Club students went to London to attend drama workshops at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre between March 28th and 31st, 2017. They were accompanied by their teachers, Ms. Seha Yucel, Mrs. Nilay Pinar, Ms. Lindsay Thomas; and the school Principal, Mrs. Saliha Aslan along with their parents.
Colin Hurley, who has been an actor for 35 years and has been working with the Globe Theatre for 13 years, worked on the play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with our students. Prior to the rehearsals, he gave a tour of the Globe and helped our students to deepen their understanding of Elizabethan theater. Ms. Kate Webster, a Globe trainer, taught a movement workshop exploring the scenes of the play. At the end of two days, students presented their work to their parents and were given certificates. During the trip, they also visited and participated in a guided tour at the British Museum where they learned about Ancient Greece and Egypt. They had a fantastic time with the costumes and the history of theatre at the Victoria & Albert Museum. They also watched Matilda the Musical. It was an unforgettable experience for our students as well as their parents.
