Pre-K

The aim of the Preschool English program is to introduce students to English and develop a positive attitude towards foreign language learning. The English Adventure classes are conducted by the native teachers whereas the Time for English classes are taught by English classroom teachers.

The day begins by discussing the weather and counting the boys and girls. Students participate by playing games, doing role play, and arts and crafts projects.  Music is an important part of the lesson. Students are physically active as they sing songs and participate in fun activities. In addition to “circle time” on the carpet, students enjoy doing bookwork.

To advocate a love of reading and respect for books, all classes are taken to SEV’s Preschool English library for a weekly lesson.  Students first listen to a story and then look through many age-appropriate books.  After becoming used to the library, in the second semester, students begin to check out a book each week. They enjoy sharing their book with family members, giving parents a chance to be involved with English learning.

The Preschool English program provides a strong foundation for students’ years of language learning.

Kindergarten

The aim of the kindergarten English program is for students to learn and to help them develop a lifetime love for language learning. At the same time, we aim to prepare students for their next level of education, by improving their motor skills, concentration ability, and cognitive development.

English lessons begin with a daily chat about the weather, days of the week, number of students present, etc.  New topics are introduced in “Circle Time” by playing games, listening to stories, and role playing.  Special care is taken when choosing English songs, ensuring they are authentic, fun, and a vehicle for language learning.  After being introduced to new topics, students complete book work and craft activities at the tables.  The variety of activities helps students absorb language in a relaxed and natural atmosphere.

In short, the Preschool English program provides students with a solid foundation for their many years of language learning.
