Fourth Grade Courses:

In our Social Sciences courses, our aim is for our students to acquire knowledge, skills and values related to personal, national and global topics. Courses are enriched with various activities with using appropriate technological tools. In line with our mission and goals, our students internalize Atatürk‘s principles and reforms while recognizing that each student is unique as an individual, encouraging students to think, ask questions, and exchange views are our most important principles. It is our goal to raise individuals who know and use their rights, fulfill their responsibilities, and are attentive to social problems.

The lessons are planned as individual and group studies, supported by school field trips and educational technologies, and are designed to prepare the ground for our students to learn through hands-on activities and personal experience.

In our Science courses, studies are planned to serve the purpose of understanding and grasping knowledge regarding the analyses and protection of the natural environment. Every event in nature plays an important role in our students’ lives and at the same time is integrated into the lessons. In our Science lessons, we want our students to acquire scientific thinking skills, develop the love of knowledge, and establish real life connections. We expect them to develop scientific skills such as observing, measuring, classifying, data recording, constructing hypotheses, using and modeling data, experimenting, as well as basic life skills such as analytical thinking, decision making, creativity, entrepreneurship, communication and teamwork.

In our Turkish courses, our aim is for our students to become individuals who understand and share personal opinions on what they watch and listen to, observe and express themselves appropriately with words, texts and visual presentations, enrich their vocabulary by establishing good reading habits, develop aesthetic feelings, discuss scientific criticisms, and develop constructive and creative ways of thinking.

Class activities are designed for students:

·         To recognize the richness of the language, and thus, enrich their language.

·         To use the language for creative problem solving skills and perceiving information.

·         To recognize the importance of individual and group work.

·         To read and process understanding.

The content of the books are discussed through activities conducted in the classroom, having an understanding of the book authors, and participating in relative workshops. Grammar rules are implicitly taught through texts; studies of poetry, story, and fairy tales.

In our Math courses, our students aim to grow up as individuals who are curious, motivated, studious, develop good research skills, become explorative, improve their ability to give concrete examples and effectively performing self-evaluation and of their classmates.

In these lessons, our students are expected to:

·         Understand mathematical concepts and systems, while establishing correlations among them.

·         Use their ability to predict and develop their analytical skills effectively.

·         Develop problem-solving strategies and use them to solve everyday problems.

·         Perform research.

·         Improve their ability to produce and use information effectively.

Our math class is based on the principle that "Each child has the ability to develop proper mathematical skills." Fundamental concepts of mathematics are an abstract representation of nature. When the level of children's development is taken into consideration, grasping these concepts can be very difficult. For this reason, concepts related to mathematics are approached by concrete learning models. The fourth grade mathematics program covers areas of learning numbers, geometry, obtaining measurements and data (i.e. graphics and probability). The courses are designed with consideration to their learning experiences, levels of development and individual differences of our students.
