“For everything in the world; the truest guide for civilization, for life, for success is science.”
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
In the Science course, besides the National Education curriculum, we implement courses that will improve scientific process skills. Our students are encouraged to use scientific method steps such as observation, experimentation, making comments and drawing conclusions, and using the deduced result in other observations and events.
With the Science program, it is aimed that students acquire the following knowledge and skills;
-
An understanding of how scientific knowledge is created by scientists, and how it is used in new research,
-
Basic information about astronomy, biology, physics, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, and science and engineering applications,
-
An approach to finding solutions to the problems encountered in these fields, which adopt scientific process skills and scientific research approach in the process of understanding the relationship between nature and human-environment
-
Taking responsibility for daily life problems and the use of science knowledge, scientific process skills and other life skills to solve these problems
-
Career awareness and entrepreneurship skills related to science
-
Interest and curiosity about events that occur in nature and our immediate surroundings
-
Awareness of safe working and the importance of safety in scientific studies,
-
Reasoning, scientific thinking and decision-making skills related to socio-scientific issues,
-
Universal moral values, national and cultural values and scientific ethical principles.
Our courses are developed to raise awareness of global and local issues such as environment, health, and food. We are raising future leaders by using iPad, Smart Board and various web tools in a way that will enable them to produce ideas and models for the solution of problems. In addition, the course aims to address students’ different abilities and learning styles.
In line with our academic excellence principle, we participate in the TÜBİTAK Secondary School Students Research Projects Competition, and among the main activities of our STEM & Science Tech department are interviews with scientists.
Mimar Sinan Day, Da Vinci Challenge Day, and the International Day of Women and Girls in Science Day are featured every year.
