"He who learns a new language acquires a new soul."
Czech Proverb
For centuries, culturally and commercially connected societies have exchanged languages and ideas, resulting in a valuable and vast treasure trove of knowledge. English is one of the most important resources for tapping into this treasure. For this reason, English is treated as a lingua franca at SEV Middle School.
Our main objectives are;
-
to enable our students to use English correctly and fluently for academic and social purposes in line with the methods and policies of the Ministry of National Education,
-
to ensure that our students use English as well as their mother tongue throughout their education and life,
-
to make sure our students gain the 4 language skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) within the framework of CEFR standards and graduate at B2 level,
-
to provide our students with the opportunity to learn English through literary texts, authentic books and environments where English is used extensively, both to improve their practice and to learn English through various methods,
-
to enable our students to become competent in using information technologies with Google Suite tools,using various digital platforms, to track student development with numerical data in order to structure individual guidance.
Our lessons are project-based, differentiated, student-centered, gamification-supported, focusing on current issues, intercultural, interdisciplinary and based on digital databases.
5th, 6th and 7th graders have lessons in the library every other week with our foreign library teacher focusing on reading skills.
