"The idea of democracy always resembles a rising sea. Since the nineteenth century, the idea of democracy has become an irresistible force and current."

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

The student council encourages participation from an early age; It serves to develop and establish a sense of duty and responsibility and an understanding of democracy.

At the beginning of the academic year, a school president is elected from the 8th grade along with a vice president from the 5th grade. Before the election, candidates campaign for a week. The election highlights the democratic culture of the school.

The student president conveys requests and suggestions from the students to the school administration. This structure represents the student voice, helping to solve problems and fulfill wishes.

A class representative from each grade level is also elected to the student council. These class representatives meet monthly with the student president and vice president to discuss issues and requests.

The aim is to create an established awareness of democracy, develop tolerance and pluralism, and reinforce the culture of election and voting in our students.

Another aim is for our students, who are individuals who will shape the future, to develop and maintain a free and democratic social order in our society, and also acquire the following skills and attitudes as well as the awareness of being a conscious citizen.

·   Leadership skills

·   Critical thinking

·   Being productive

·   Curiosity

·   Taking responsibility

·   Problem solving

·   Reaching information sources and using information

·   Participation

·   Communication skills

·   Cooperation and teamwork

·   A culture of discussion and compromise

·   Ability to mould public opinion

In order to put these attitudes and skills into action, based on the culture of democracy, the excitement of the election of the president of the student council is experienced every year in our school. The process continues throughout the academic year, with the head of the school acting together with the class representatives and school management, holding planned and topical meetings, and taking part in various projects.
